Crown or Class (2026)

Crown or Class (2026) is a Pan-African documentary directed by Kwaku Sikahene-Adarkwa (Kaay DiFilmer). It follows two young African women one in Belgium and one in Ghana as they navigate natural hair care, beauty standards, identity, and belonging. The film treats hair as more than appearance: it becomes a lens for history, culture, resistance, self-worth, and self-definition. Spanning Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Ghana, it examines how Eurocentric beauty ideals continue to shape African women’s experiences across the continent and diaspora, while celebrating natural hair as an act of pride, healing, and liberation.
