Jones Plantation (2023)

Set on a cotton plantation, the film follows Nathanial Jones, an owner whose enslaved workers are becoming increasingly restless and rebellious. Violence and intimidation fail to restore order, and the growing resistance threatens both Jones’s livelihood and his control over the plantation. Seeking a more effective method of domination, Jones turns to Tobias Smith, a former slave who presents himself as an ally of the workers. Smith offers them language about equality, empowerment, and freedom, but his involvement becomes part of a larger strategy to control them psychologically rather than through physical force.
