Serietecknaren (2025) – Swedish

Serietecknaren (2025) is a Swedish comedy-drama directed and written by Simon Gärdenfors, based loosely on his own experiences. It follows Simon, a comic artist who attempts to reinvent himself as a stand-up comedian, but after a controversial song, canceled shows, and a series of public disasters, he is forced to return to drawing comics. Simon pitches a graphic novel about DC-Bengan, a legendary and elusive comic-book editor from the 1970s–1990s who is rumored to have abused young boys. As he investigates the story, the film moves through a world of comic creators, shady collectors, publishers, and stand-up comedians, blending autobiographical fiction with a satirical look at Sweden’s comics and comedy scenes.
