The Hill (2023)

Based on the true story of baseball player Rickey Hill, the film follows a boy growing up in rural Texas with a degenerative spinal disease that forces him to wear leg braces. Despite his physical limitations and his family’s poverty, Rickey develops an extraordinary talent for hitting and dreams of playing professional baseball. Rickey’s father, James, is a strict traveling pastor who discourages him from playing because he fears the sport will worsen his condition. James also expects Rickey to follow him into the ministry. Rickey, however, continues playing whenever he can, eventually proving himself against other boys and becoming a standout high-school player.
