The Librarians (2025)

The Librarians follows school and public librarians across Texas, Florida, and other parts of the United States as they confront an unprecedented wave of book bans. After Texas lawmakers circulate the Krause List targeting 850 books many addressing race, LGBTQIA+ identity, sexuality, and history librarians become frontline defenders of intellectual freedom. Facing harassment, threats, political pressure, job insecurity, and laws that could criminalize their work, they organize as the “FReadom Fighters” to protect access to diverse stories. Kim A. Snyder’s documentary connects local library battles to wider debates about censorship, democracy, education, and the control of information.
