What We Dreamed Of Then (2026)

What We Dreamed of Then (2026) is a Canadian drama about “invisible homelessness,” written, directed by, and starring Taylor Olson. It follows Gideon, a passionate swim coach and devoted father who secretly lives in his van after losing stable housing while trying to maintain his job, dignity, and relationship with his estranged daughter. Told through a non-linear structure that moves between past and present, the film contrasts Gideon’s earlier life as a young husband and father with his current isolation and precarious survival. It explores how economic instability, separation, shame, and small acts of kindness shape his struggle to hold onto hope and reconnect with Faith, his daughter.
