Cassandro (2023)

Saúl Armendáriz is a gay amateur wrestler from El Paso who crosses into Ciudad Juárez to compete in Mexico’s macho lucha libre scene. Initially wrestling as the masked “El Topo,” he teams up with trainer Sabrina, who encourages him to embrace the flamboyant exótico style male wrestlers who perform in drag and create a persona of his own. Saúl becomes Cassandro, a colorful and fearless fighter whose popularity challenges wrestling’s rigid expectations of masculinity and sexuality.
