Mononoke the Movie: Chapter III – The Curse of the Serpent (2026) – Japanese

One year after the events of Chapter II – The Ashes of Rage, the Ōoku appears to have regained its peace. The palace celebrates the birth of a long-awaited male heir, but the joy quickly turns to terror when unexplained deaths occur and a powerful serpent spirit begins moving beneath the Inner Chambers. The mysterious Medicine Seller returns to investigate. The entity, known as the Hebigami or Serpent God, is connected to the Water Goddess worshipped within the palace and to Lady Ama, the woman who founded the Ōoku 150 years earlier. As the spirit’s attacks intensify, the Medicine Seller discovers that the monster is not simply an external demon but a manifestation of grief, devotion, denial, and long-suppressed suffering.
