Season 1 (10 episodes, 2017–2018) introduces Howard Silk (J.K. Simmons), a meek OI clerk in Berlin whose routine life with his comatose wife Emily (Olivia Williams) is upended when he learns the OI hides a gateway to a parallel Earth. He meets his Prime‑world counterpart, “Prime Howard,” a hardened field agent, and is drawn into a conspiracy: a Prime terrorist faction, Project Indigo, plans attacks on Alpha leadership in retaliation for a deadly swine‑flu epidemic that ravaged Prime decades earlier. As Alpha and Prime spar through spies, assassins, and moles, Howard must navigate betrayals within the OI while protecting Emily and deciding where his loyalties lie.
