Apple TV+ is set to premiere Nocturne, a dark, atmospheric crime drama starring Liev Schreiber, Zazie Beetz, and Stephen Graham, on Friday, October 30, 2026. Based on the internationally bestselling Lazarus and The Sandmannovels by Swedish author Lars Kepler, the 10-episode series promises a twisted cat-and-mouse game that blurs the line between justice and vengeance.
The story centers on Jonah Lynn (Liev Schreiber), a hardened ex-soldier turned homicide detective who leaves the chaos of Philadelphia for a quiet life in a small western Pennsylvania town. But peace is short-lived.
When Jurek Walter (Stephen Graham) a notorious serial killer previously thought to be behind bars resurfaces, Jonah's new home and family become targets. Complicating matters, a victim once presumed dead suddenly appears alive, reigniting the hunt for Jurek's final missing prey.
To get inside the killer's mind, Jonah sends his surrogate daughter and protégé, FBI Agent Saga Bauer (Zazie Beetz), undercover to confront Jurek directly. As the body count rises, Jonah must decide how far he's willing to go and whether crossing moral boundaries is the only way to stop a monster.
"Catching a killer means crossing the line." Official tagline.

Critics and early reviewers highlight Nocturne as a potential successor to prestige thrillers like True Detective, thanks to its:
Bleak, immersive atmosphere reminiscent of Nordic noir
Moral ambiguity: The line between hunter and hunted grows increasingly thin
Star-powered performances, especially Graham's chilling portrayal of Jurek and Schreiber's weary-but-relentless Jonah
Faithful yet fresh adaptation of Lars Kepler's Joona Linna series, reimagined for American television
Apple TV+ describes it as "a sinister reversal of the cat-and-mouse genre," where the real horror isn't just the killer but what good people become when pushed too far.
The official trailer dropped on September 29, 2026, offering a glimpse of rain-soaked streets, psychological tension, and intense confrontations between Saga and Jurek. Early footage suggests a tone closer to Mindhunter meets Prisoners, with a heavy emphasis on procedural detail and emotional stakes.
With its A-list cast, literary pedigree, and Apple TV+'s track record for high-quality dramas (Severance, Slow Horses, Dark Matter), Nocturne is poised to be one of fall 2026's most compelling new series.
Mark your calendar: October 30 is when the hunt begins and the line between right and wrong starts to disappear.
Watch Nocturne exclusively on Apple TV+, starting October 30, 2026.
